This little figurine came from a time in my life where I physiclaly lost my ability to speak and therefore my ability to communicate, advocate and feel heard in any and all of my relationships. Unfortunately me losing my voice came at the same time in my life when I lost my forest, my friends, my partner, the support of my father, and my hopes and faith in humanity and the future.
I made a whole bunch of these, some for patreons, some for friends, some for me. but all of them are equally as special and important to me as they were all made in the same time in my life!
This little figurine can be seen keeping everything they have to themselves, with their arms crossed in front to keep it all together, but ironically there's nothing to keep, they are completely empty. Only eyes to see no mouth to speak. This figurine is keeping all that it can and stuck intaking without a voice. I hope you and this sculputure can both find your voice together.
Please note that because these pieces are made with backyard clay they have many "burnout holes" caused from leftover organic material in the clay. This could be things like sticks, bugs, plant matter or anything else combustable that you can find in nature. These tiny holes DO NOT effect the longevity of the piece, however the holes do not allow for a complete and full coating of an overglaze which means the pieces are unfortunately NOT food safe. In the future I will be making food safe pieces but as of right now I am largely focussed on using the wonderful tool I have at my fingertips, the forest!
As always, made with mud + love! - Evan!
